Our Teaching Team
Coordinator: Ada Yap
Ada’s journey of faith started in a Christian home but she only came to know and trust in God’s gracious act in redeeming her by Jesus’ blood shed on the cross in high school. In 2018, Ada and her husband Aaron started theological training at Moore College to be better equipped to understand and teach God’s word and to take the gospel outwards. Ada finished her Advanced Diploma and has experience in children’s and youth ministry. Before studying at Moore College, Ada completed a Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and worked as a dietitian and in health promotion. Ada enjoys having good discussions from the Bible about the true hope and life that’s found in Jesus with the students at Ryde Secondary College!
Mick Hogan has been teaching SRE at Ryde Secondary College since 2009 and currently teaches a year 9 class. He loves family, music/drums, dining out, swimming, driving and motorcycling. Mick says he is passionate about teaching SRE because “we have a wonderful opportunity to reveal the truth of the Gospel to precious people before they lose sight of what’s important in life.”
Andrew Hulme is completing his Bible college course at Morling College. He has been involved in youth and children’s ministries at his church, Ryde Baptist, for over 7 years. Andrew says "I'm really excited to be teaching scripture because scripture was the place where I heard about Jesus!”
Will Green is the youth pastor at C3 Church Ryde. Will is passionate about telling young people about Jesus, and has been involved in youth ministry for over 5 years. Will says “I’m really excited to be part of the SRE team! Jesus loves these kids & has a great plan for their lives. It’s an absolute privilege to teach them how precious they are to Him!"
Regular SRE teachers:
Sarah Jordan has attended North Ryde Christian Church since 2012 when her family moved to Sydney from Perth. She works at Child Evangelism Fellowship where facilitates a variety of Gospel based children's programs and children’s ministry training for churches. Sarah's highlight of the week (aside from teaching SRE at Ryde Secondary) is teaching the children of Ryde about Jesus through a weekly club called Kings Way held at her church.
Matt Sapsford (C3 Church Ryde)
Katie Bolton (St Anne’s Anglican Church)
A number of other volunteers from local partner churches help to teach classes when needed.
